VIDEO CHANNEL 7 NEWS: THE MIAMI HEAT AND ADAM FINNIESTON VISIT HAITI Team members visited the University of Miami field hospital on Saturday. While at the hospital, they witnessed a miracle in action when 25-year-old Wilfrid, an amputee, learned how to run. "Wilfrid learned how to run this morning. He's been walking as an amputee for approximately three weeks now," said Prosthetist Adam Finnieston.

(CBS) In a dusty field 200 feet from the Port-au-Prince airport, a makeshift medical center treats life-threatening injuries and chronic illnesses. "If they come in here, they're treated as if they're at Mass General, Mayo or University of Miami, anywhere in the world," said Dr. Barth Green. CBS News anchor Katie Couric reports Green was one of the first to arrive in Haiti after the earthquake. "The first day," he said, "we were literally off a plane, operating on a kitchen table."

Inside a warehouse in an industrial corner of Hialeah, six large cardboard cartons hold the next chapter in the lives of Haitian earthquake amputees -- 500 chocolate-brown prosthetic legs for men, women and children.

Miami, FL - As news pours in from Haiti on the estimated 2000 people expected to suffer a limb amputation, a multidisciplinary team of Prosthetists and Physical Therapists prepares the daunting task of providing long term prosthetic care. The group will join Project Medishare in Haiti this week to help care for amputees and assess conditions. Their goal is to formulate a strategy for prosthetic rehabilitation that can be implemented quickly, effectively and sustainably.
